Play date Tuesday

So, a friend (also a SAHM) called last night and asked if I would like to bring Jae over for a play date with her son. Jae has known this little boy since she was born(they are only 6 months apart) and  they play great together. I am thinking they will either grow up to be best friends or some day maybe even date! Who knows, maybe both. Ha ha ha.

I told Jae about her future play date with Clayton and she was estatic! I told her we need to get into bed earlier tonight so we can get up early and go see Clayton.  I tried really hard to get her to go to bed early. No way was that happening. I even tried to get her in bed finally a 1am, still not happening. She was like a little kid on Christmas Eve, waiting for  Santa Clause to come. After all patience was lost and it was 3am she finally went to sleep.  I too was wired after she wouldn't go to sleep; that I ended up  staying up and watching a movie and making another tutu.

Then at about 8am I hear MOMMY, WAKE UP! Are you kidding me, does this child not believe in sleep?  After her and my alarm clock had been screaming at me off and on for an hour I finally got up. So, we go over to see her little bud Clayton, and I think he is just as excited as her. While we are driving down his driveway he is waving and Smiling. It is so cute how excited toddler's get around each other. Jae and Clayton ran around the yard chasing chickens, played in the sand box and slid down the slide until it was lunch. After they ate their little picnic, we took them to someone's house to see some rabbits, goats, baby ducks, and more chickens. I think after playing that hard for four hours the kids were exhausted.  It is only about 15 minutes between our two houses and Jae was asleep half way home.

Us two moms also had a great time talking and  drinking sweet tea. Oh, did I mention our friends have a 5 month old too? Well, he is a cute little chubby cheek boy, with a great big smile and I got the chance to hold him.  I must admit I got a little touch of baby fever ( I haven't got baby fever in probably a year or longer),  We will just have to see what the future holds for us on that subject, but at the moment I am happy with just one drama queen!

if the tutu fits, wear it...

Tuesday night we (as a family of three) decide it is bedtime. So my husband goes to our bed and Jaelyn goes and gets into to her bed. I decide to delete some emails, shut down the computer and then head to bed. So about 15 minutes later I am done and heading to bed. I open the door and they are already fast asleep in dream land. This never happens. Especially at 11pm. I decided I really wasn't that tired and drug out my tutu supplies. I thought, won't it be so cute when Jae wakes up and sees the tutu and feels like a Princess?   ( not that she is not already treated like one most of the time. She is an only child and it just kind of happens.)  Lonnie woke up just as I had finished it and was surprised at how good it looked. I don't think he thought I had any craft ability in me. It's truly amazing what your mind and body can do when they are not stressed and over worked. ( especially working 45-58 hours a week with a 35minute commute  twice a a day)

When the time came for our little Princess to wake up that morning I couldn't help but get a little excited. After she had drank her sippy of milk and watched one of her preschooler shows, ( she is not a morning person)  I decided to show it to her. First I said "Jae, I have a surprise for you."  She lit up and said "You do?"I said "yea, I made some thing for you!" So, here I am a woman who hasn't done a crafty thing in probably 7 years and am wanting my 2 year old to approve of my craftiness. I pick up the tutu and show it to her. She just gives me that puzzled look. I say " this is your tutu. now you can be like a princess or Abby on Flying Fairy School." Jae's response was " I don't like it! I don't want to wear it!"  I have to admit my heart did sink a little bit, especially when she wouldn't even try it on. So, we put the tutu off to the side and went on with our day.

Later that afternoon she wakes up from a 2 hour nap and is in a much better mood. She walks into the dining area and sees the tutu again and says "aww, I like this. I like my tutu!" So I being the person I am and wanting to photograph my daughter all the time tell her" why don't you wear your tutu and we can take some pics of you. I know Uncle Boots wanted to see a picture of you wearing it."( my brother had really said he wanted to see a picture of her wearing it) "Okay", she says .  We go to freshen up her hair and as I put her on the counter she spots some bottles of nail polish. "Can I paint momma?" "you want to paint your nails?" I asked her. "Yea!" she answered. So we painted not only her finger nails but also her toe nails. She then let me put the tutu on her and we headed outside for pictures! Now you can't tell me this is not the start of  a Drama Queen.

By the way she did great for the pictures. She loved the tutu and Wore it for an hour straight.

Goals can be reached!!

So, I have changed the name of my blog and decided to actually try blogging once again. Since I have just started the new adventure of becoming a stay at home mom, I figure I can blog about the adventures that I have with my little girl. She is full of Sass and Spunk. I do believe she gets the sass from me and the spunk from my husband. Some times I think She is 2 going on 13 instead of 2 going on 3.

So far I have been  a SAHM for two weeks, and I can truly say I am loving it. We were just starting to think that we could never achieve our goal of me staying home with Jaelyn. I had decided when I had her I wanted to be able to stay home with her by the time she was two. She turned two last July, and I thought well there goes that dream...  It seemed like every time we got close to it becoming reality something would go wrong. For instance by the time Jaelyn was 11 months we had sold our home and bought another to be able to get rid of lots of debt. Then the house we had bought needed a new roof (still not as much debt as we had in the other home). Then by the time Jaelyn was turning two we had to replace our Central Heat and Air Unit. Let me tell you those are not cheap either. Finally This year We were able to pay off all debt except our house and a never ending hospital bill ( I seriously don't think it will ever go away). now I did have to sale my car to reach this point (and I loved my car) but I thought if I am going to get to stay home with Jae why do I need to pay a payment on a second vehicle? So the day we sold my Car ( it only took one day to sell it!) is when everything started falling into place.

I do know that totally cutting out a second income is a huge deal for us. But I can honestly say I don't think I will ever think I will regret the decision I made. Every day when I have more time with my family and have a cleaner more organized home reassures me I made the right decision. I am truly Loving my new life!!
